What we talked about
- Exchanging xBOM data from 3DEXPERIENCE to MES and ERP — our session on moving EBOM, MBOM and process BOM data out cleanly, calculating what has changed since the last exchange, and keeping the downstream systems in step.
- The design decisions that make integration hold up — loose coupling, asynchronous processing and scalability, and how transactional data like production orders, WIP status and inventory movements flows back the other way.
- Migrating PLM/PDM and CAD data to Power'By UPS — the requirements for a successful move, the challenges that catch teams out, and case studies from customers who have made the transition.
- Product Data Optimisation across the enterprise — bridging PLM with ERP, CRM, SCM and MES, and using custom 3DDashboard widgets and Netvibes to track and report on the data flowing between them.
About COEXPERIENCE 2024
COEXPERIENCE is the annual conference of COE, the independent user community for Dassault Systèmes solutions, bringing together over 700 users across tracks in CAD data management, analysis and simulation, and business transformation. The 2024 edition ran 13–16 May at the Sheraton Dallas, co-located for the first time with the MBSE Cyber Systems Symposium, where SteepGraph exhibited at Booth C14 and presented two sessions.
What we took away
- AI moved from keynote to demo. Generative design and natural-language 3D model creation were shown working on stage, which shifts the client conversation from "is this coming" to "what do we do with it".
- ERP and MES integration is where the pain is. Our xBOM session drew people wrestling with the same problem — getting EBOM, MBOM and process BOM data out of 3DEXPERIENCE cleanly and keeping it in step with the systems downstream.
- Migration to UPS is the question everyone is now asking. Our session on moving PLM/PDM and CAD data to Power'By UPS filled with teams who had decided to go, but had not yet sized the challenge.
- MBSE moved to the centre of the event. The first co-location with the MBSE Cyber Systems Symposium put systems engineering alongside CAD and PLM, and the aerospace and defence turnout reflected it.
